Meditation For a Healthy Life

A recent article in the magazine In Style called “The Zen Commandments: Your Field Guide to Living in the Now” (May 2015) speaks about the growing popularity of meditation from coast to coast. Some of the numerous benefits listed include increased focus, reduced anxiety, increased happiness, decreased stress and optimism. It is noted that many people are concerned about meditation being difficult, uncomfortable, and needing to be done in a particular place and for a particular amount of time. While difficulties and discomfort may arise at times, it is highlighted that it can be done anytime, anywhere. Having a special place to practice and having a regular time devoted to it can be helpful, yet one need not restrict one’s practice to only a certain time or place, as the idea is to take the practice into each moment.
